We want to make it easier for people like you to participate in nutrition programs and improve your health. It’s easy to participate.
Click the "Join the Study" button at the top of the page to sign up. You will be asked to read and sign a consent form indicating that you understand what the research study asks you to do and informing you of your rights as a research participant.
The consent form explains what we will ask you to do if you sign up for the research study. When you sign the consent form, you are indicating that you understand what is expected. You are also giving us permission to review your medical records to confirm your eligibility and analyze the data you provide to us through this study for research purposes. Your participation in this study is voluntary, and you can withdraw from the study at any time.
You will be randomly assigned to meet with a navigator and/or receive text-messages about joining Project Open Hand. You will also be asked to complete surveys after you enroll and 3 months later. These surveys will ask about your eating habits, health, and quality of life and should take about 2 hours total.
No, you do not need to have a smartphone to take part in this research study. However, if you have a smartphone, you are encouraged to participate in the study through the Eureka app as it has features that the website doesn’t offer.
This whole study is scheduled to end in late 2025, but may be extended. You can withdraw from the study before this if you choose to, but you have to let us know.
Study surveys in Eureka will take about 2 hours total. Surveys at each study visit will take about 1 hour each.
The study will pay you $50 for completing each study visit and an additional $50 for completing an optional interview about your experience in the program, for a total of up to $150.
